Today I want to share a little bit about a visual novel I played a few weeks ago. I found it by chance after aimlessly clicking through otome blogs, tried the Switch demo and was completely smitten within like 30 minutes. I insta-bought it. It is a BL visual novel called Hashihime of the Old Book Town, 古書店街の橋姫。A localized BL VN on Switch feels completely unheard of but I'm glad it is available for everyone to play. :D

I'm going to try to be vague because I want anyone coming across this entry to not be spoiled too much. I linked Nintendo's summary above. And the real goal here is to show off my favorite boy. xD It is a kinetic mystery story revolving around MC Tamamori, who has pretty wild hallucinations, and his three friends in Taisho Era Japan. These hallucinations are so pretty. This is what sucked me in at first. Then the music. Superb. It's so wonderful. I'm not sure how to get a hold of the OST so I'm gonna record my own copy of each track.

Then soon afterward this eccentric shows up. I keep wondering every time I meet Hakase what is he really up to? And every time, I loved him more and more, I was getting a little impatient waiting to get to his route. It was so worth the wait. ;^; What a sweetheart. ♥ This game made my heart flutter.

A bit later I learned the Switch version is censored. Which is actually kind of OK because looking up the missing eyecatches I felt the only thing I missed out on was any dialog said during them. I will buy the Steam version someday when I want to go through it again to see them though. If you're ever deciding which version to buy, the Switch release has exclusive short stories that unlock at the end. I loved those more than anything I possibly missed. Just thinking about them brings back my overwhelming feelings for this game. I would rate it 9/10, would play 100 more times.

Today I want to share with you my inspiration for language learning, specifically Japanese & Thai.

It all started with my discovering and getting deep into Thai BL dramas in December of 2020. I found SOTUS on NetflixUS during one random whim to resub and waste my day. I fell hard. I fell in love with these shows and kept watching more and more. I watched 2gether. Theory of Love. 2Moons2. I had a lot to catch up on. I watched My Engineer and I enjoyed it a lot. (still waiting for season 2!) One thing I love about Thailand (or specifically the BL-side of showbiz, I don't know much about the norm) is the fan & artist interaction and love compared to other countries. It feels like it's on a whole other and personal level. I might be wrong, and it might because they've figured everything out and sub everything in English. xD

But a few months into it I found my inspiration, Perth Nakhun, who plays Ram in My Engineer. He streams video games and chats with his fans & viewers in his off time. He is an amazing and nice guy all around, funny, and he makes us feel like we're all friends. As a fan I'm very proud of his achievements and I look forward to seeing all of his works in the future. He is a native English speaker but has studied Japanese and is damn good at it, and knows Thai for his living situation and work. I was and still am in awe. I aspire to learn Japanese at the least, and hopefully someday Thai, like him. Here is a list of some of his work:

Welcome

I've been into anime & stuff since around 2001. Learning Japanese seriously since 2021, slow but steady. I'm newly into otome games and visual novels. Learn more from my carrd above! ♥
